Hailey, Oxfordshire

Description
Hailey, a township and a chapelry in Witney parish, Oxfordshire. The township lies near the river Wmdrush, 3 miles N by W from Witney station on the G.W.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Witney. Area, 2879 acres; population of the township, 1365; of the ecclesiastical district, 818. The chapelry includes also the hamlet of Crawley, and bears the name of Hailey-cum-Crawley. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Oxford; gross value, £310. Patron, the Bishop of Oxford. St John's Church, Hailey, was rebuilt in 1869; St Peter's Church, Crawley, was built in 1847. There are Primitive Methodist and Wesleyan chapels, an endowed school, and some small charities.
