Saundby, a village and a parish in Notts, on the river Trent, 1 3/4 mile N of Sturton station on the M.S. & L.R., and 1 from Beckingham station on a branch of the G.N.R., and 2 1/2 miles WSW of Gainsborough. Post town and money order office, Gainsborough; telegraph office, Beckingham (R.S.) Acreage, 1415; population, 126. The property belongs to Lord Middleton. The living is a rectory annexed to the vicarage of Bole, in the diocese of Southwell; joint net value, £300 with residence. Patrons, the Bishops of Southwell and Manchester alternately. The church is a small ancient building in the Late Decorated style, consisting of chancel, nave, N aisle, S porch, and an embattled western tower. The chancel was erected in 1886, and the N aisle rebuilt and nave restored in 1891.
