Description
Besthorpe, a township-chapelry and a village in South Scarle parish, Notts, on an affluent of the river Trent, 2 1/2 miles N by W of Collingham railway station and 7 N by E of Newark-upon-Trent, with a post office under Newark; money order and telegraph office, Collingham. Acreage, 1302; population, 178. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of South Scarle, in the diocese of Southwell. There is a Methodist chapel.
