Balderton, a large village and a parish in Notts, 2 miles SE of Newark, which is the nearest railway station. It has a post and money order office under Newark Acreage, 3789; population, 1404. The Duke of Newcastle is lord of the manor. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Southwell ; net value, £267. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is ancient, and has a fine Norman porch. There are Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist chapels.
