Description
Thropton, a village and a township in Rothbury parish, Northumberland, 2 miles W of Rothbury station on the North British railway. There is a post and money order office under Rothbury; telegraph office, Rothbury. Acreage, 848; population, 219. There is a parish council consisting of five members. The Duke of Northumberland is lord of the manor. There are Presbyterian and Roman Catholic churches.
