Description
Sandhoe, a township in St John Lee parish, Northumberland, 3 miles ENE of Hexbam, and 2 from Corbridge station on the N.E.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Hexham. Acreage, including Anick, 2549 of land and 70 of water; population, 439. Sandhoe House, a fine modern mansion, and Beanfront Castle, a castellated mansion, on the site of an old residence of the Carnabys, are the chief residences.
