Description
Seaton, North, a village and a township in Woodhom parish, Northumberland, on the coast, at the N side of the Wansbeck river's mouth, with a station on the Blyth and Tyne railway, 6 1/2 miles E of Morpeth. There is a post and money order office at North Seaton Colliery, under Morpeth; telegraph office, Newbiggin-by-the Sea. Acreage, 1465, and 217 of tidal water and foreshore; population, 1996. There is an extensive colliery. North Seaton Hall is the chief residence. There are a chapel of ease and Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist chapels.
