Description
Thornhaugh, a parish in Northamptonshire, 1 1/2 mile NNW of Wansford Road station on the Sibson and Stamford branch of the G.N.R., and 9 miles W by N of Peterborough. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Wansford. Acreage, 2726; population of the civil parish, 269; of the ecclesiastical, with Wansford, 345. There is a parish council consisting of five members. The property, with the manor, belongs to the Duke of Bedford. The living is a rectory, united with Wansford, in the diocese of Peterborough; joint net value, £306 with residence. Patron, the Duke of Bedford. The church, dedicated to St Andrew, is an ancient building of stone in the Early Norman style, and has a western embattled tower. It was restored and partly rebuilt in 1889.
