Stanwick, a parish, with a village, in Northamptonshire, 1 3/4 mile ENE of Higham Ferrers station on the Northampton and Peterborough section of the L. & N.W.R. It has a post and money order office under Higham Ferrers; telegraph office, Raunds. Acreage, 2023; population, 714. The manor belongs to the Pratt family. There are several good residences. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; net value, £391 with residence. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church, dedicated to St Lawrence, is a building of stone in the Early English and Perpendicular styles, consisting of chancel, nave, S aisle, vestry, and a western tower with a fine and lofty octangular broach spire. There are Baptist and Wesleyan chapels. Archbishop Dolben and the dramatist R. Cumberland were natives.
