Description
Polebrook, a village and a parish in Northamptonshire. The village stands 1 mile E of the river Nene, 1 1/2 NE of Bamwell station on the Northampton and Peterborough section of the L. & N.W.R., and 2 miles ESE from Oundle. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Oundle. The parish contains also the hamlets of Armston and Kingsthorpe. Acreage, 1837; population of the civil parish, 382; of the ecclesiastical, 401. There' is a parish council consisting of seven members. The manor belongs to the Duke of Buccleuch. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; net value, £250 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Peterborough. The church is partly Norman, partly Early English; consists of nave, aisles, transepts, and chancel, with tower and broach spire; and was restored in 1863.
