Courteenhall, a parish in Northamptonshire, adjacent to the L. & N.W.R. and the Grand Junction Canal, 1 1/4 mile NE of Roade railway station, and 5 S of Northampton. Post town, Northampton; money order and telegraph office, Roade. Acreage, 1601; population, 149. The manor, with Courteenhall House, belongs to the Wake family. Limestone is found. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; net yearly value, £296. The church is ancient but good, and it contains monuments of the Wakes, and an altar-tomb of Samuel Jones, who died in 1672 and left funds for a school and apprenticing, which now yield £120 a year.
