Description
Taverham, a parish in Norfolk, on the river Wensum, 1 1/2 mile from Drayton station on the Midland and Great Northern Joint railway, and 6 miles NW of Norwich. It has a post office under Norwich; money order and telegraph office, Drayton. Acreage, 2167; population, 222. Taverham gives its name to the hundred and rural deanery in which it is situated. The manor, with Taverham Hall, belongs to the Micklethwait family There is a large paper-mill where paper is made for The Times. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £250 with residence. The church, dedicated to St Edmund, is plain, and has a round tower with octagonal top.
