Description
Tasburgh, a parish, with a village, in Norfolk, on the river Tees, 1 1/4 mile SE of Flordon station on the Ipswich and Norwich section of the G.E.R., and 8 miles S by W of Norwich. It has a post and money order office under Long Stratton; telegraph office, Long Stratton. Acreage, 914; population, 423. There is a parish council consisting of ten members. The manor belongs to the Gwynn family. The Roman station Ad Tanm was here, now represented by an entrenchment enclosing about 24 acres on the summit of a hill, and Roman relics have been found. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; gross value, 219 with residence. The church is a building of flint and stone in the Decorated style, consisting of chancel, nave, N porch, and a round western tower. It contains a fine altar tomb, some brasses of the 16th century, and an ancient font. There arc a Primitive Methodist chapel and a Friends' meeting-house.
