Roughton, a parish, with a village, in Norfolk, 3 1/2 miles S of Cromer, and 3 NW of Gunton station on the G.E.R. It has a post office under Norwich; money order and telegraph office, Hanworth. Acreage, 1785; population, 461. There is a parish council consisting of seven members and & chairman. The manor belongs to Lord Suffield, who is chief landowner. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich;. net value, £120 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Norwich. The church is of the 14th century, and is a. building of flint and stone in the Norman style, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, N and S porches, and a round embattled western tower. There are a Primitive Methodist chapel and an endowed school with £35 a year.
