Longham, Norfolk

Description
Longham, a parish, with a village, in Norfolk, 2 miles N of Wendling station on the G.E.R., and 5 NW of East Dere-ham. It has a post office under Dereham; money order and telegraph office, Gressenhall. Acreage, 1335 ; population of the civil parish, 310 ; of the ecclesiastical, with Wendling, 696. The manor and most of the land belong to the Earl of Leicester. The living is a vicarage, united with the rectory of Wendling, in the diocese of Norwich; net yearly value, £100 with residence. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is a building of flint and rubble in the Perpendicular style, and consists of nave, chancel, and S porch, with a tower. There are a Wesleyan chapel and two almshouses. Long Handborough. See HANDBOEOUGH.
