Gissing, a village and a parish in Norfolk. The village stands near the G.E.R., 1 1/2 mile N by E of Burston station, and 4 1/2 miles NNE of Diss, and has a post office under Diss; money order and telegraph office, Diss. The parish comprises 2005 acres; population, 434. The manor belongs to Sir Kenneth Hagan Kemp, Bart. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; net yearly value, £387 with residence. Patron, Sir K. H. Kemp, Bart. The church is an ancient building of flint in the Perpendicular style, has a round tower, and contains monuments of the Kemps. There is a Wesleyan chapel. Gissing Hall is a chief residence.
