Description
Somerton, East, a parish in Norfolk, 8 1/2 miles NNW of Yarmouth, and 2 N from Hemsby station on the Midland and Great Northern Joint railway. Post town, West Somerton, under Yarmouth; money order office, Winterton; telegraph office, Martham. Acreage, 831; population, 62. Burnley Hall is a pleasant country mansion standing amidst its own gardens, and is the property of the Charsley family. The living is a chapelry, annexed to the rectory of Winterton. The church is now only an ivy-clad ruin.
