Bawburgh, Norfolk

Description
Bawburgh, a village and a parish in Norfolk, on the river Yare, 5 1/2 miles W of Norwich railway station, with a post office under Norwich, the money order and telegraph office. Acreage, 1421; population, 408. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Norwich; net yearly value, £167 with residence. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Norwich. The church, which is an ancient building of stone chiefly in the Perpendicular style, has a round tower, an old font, and a brass of 1531. There is a Primitive Methodist chapel. St Walstan was a native, and the Saint's Well in this parish formerly enjoyed a high reputation for the cure of scrofulous diseases.
