Welby, a parish, with a village, in Lincolnshire, 4 1/2 miles E by N of Grantham station on the G.N.R. It has a post office under Grantham; money order office, Ancaster; telegraph office, Ancaster railway station. Acreage, 235ft of land and 33 of water; population, 376. The manor belongs to the Welby-Gregory baronet family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln; net value, £600 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Lincoln. The church is in the Early English style, and has been restored. There are a Wesleyan chapel, four almshouses, and some other charities.
