Description
Utterby, a parish, with a village, in Lincolnshire, 2 miles S of Ludborough station on the G.N.R., and 4 1/2 N by W of Louth. The village lies to the E of the old Roman road now called Barton Street. It has a post office under Louth; money order office, North Thoresby; telegraph office, Louth. Acreage, 1577; population, 258. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln; net value, £160 with residence. The tower of the church was built about 1340. The nave and chancel are of a late Rectilinear character. The chancel has a piscina, an aumbry, and a statue corbel. There are two Methodist chapels.
