Swinstead, a parish, with a pleasant village, in Lincolnshire, 3 miles SE of Corby station on the G.N.R. main line, and 7 WNW of Bourne. It has a post office under Bourne; money order and telegraph office, Corby. Acreage, 1789; population, 343. The manor belongs to the Earl of Ancaster. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lincoln; net value, £150. Patron, the Earl of Ancaster. The church, dedicated to St Mary, is a building of stone in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, S porch, and an embattled western tower.
