Description
Langtoft, a village and a parish in Lincolnshire. The village stands near Car Dyke, 2 miles NW by N of Market Deeping, and 3 E of Tallington station on the main line of the G.N.R., and is well built. It has a post office under Market Deeping; money order office, Baston; telegraph'office, Market Deeping. Acreage of parish, 2133; population, 533. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lincoln; net value, £230 with residence. Patron, The Earl of Ancaster. The church is an edifice of stone in the Early English, Decorated, and Perpendicular styles, consists of chancel, nave, N and S chantries, aisles, and a tower with a spire, and contains some ancient memorials of the Hydes. There are also Congregational and Wesleyan chapels.
