Harpswell, a parish in Lincolnshire, on the Wolds, 5 miles SSE from Northope station on the M.S. & L.R., and 8 E from Gainsborough. Post and telegraph office, Lincoln; money order office, Willoughton. Acreage, 2165; population, 120. The living is a donative in the diocese of Lincoln; gross yearly value,, £100. Patrons, the Whichcote family. The church, dedicated to St Chad, is plain but good, contains a fine old Norman font and some interesting tombs and monuments, and was restored at the expense of the late Sir Thomas Whichcote, Bart., in 1890-91.
