Description
Grainthorpe, a village and a parish in Lincolnshire. The village stands near the coast, 6 miles E of Ludborough station on the G.N.R., and 8 NE by N of Louth, and has a post office tinder Grimsby; money order and telegraph office, Marshchapel. The parish includes also the hamlets of Ludney and Wragholme. Acreage, 4387; population of the civil parish, 627; of the ecclesiastical, 619. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lincoln; gross yearly value, £210 with residence. Patron, Magdalene College, Cambridge. The church is Later English and good, consists of nave, chancel, and aisles, and has a western tower with crocketed pinnacles. There are Wesleyan, Primitive Methodist, and Free Methodist chapels.
