Description
Frodingham, a township and a parish in Lincolnshire. The township lies on the South Yorkshire branch of the M.S. & L.R., and has a station 9 miles NW from Brigg. There is a post, money order, and telegraph office at Scun-thorpe, under Doncaster. The parish includes Scunthorpe township, likewise the township of Brumby, and parts of.' the townships of Crosby and Gunhouse. Area of Frodingham, 1019 acres; population, 1384; of Scnnthorpe, 1031 acres; population, 3481; of Brumby, 3024 acres; population, 756; of Crosby, 3181 acres; population, 366; of Gunhouse, 509 acres; population, 78. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lincoln; gross value, £1049 with residence^ Patron, Lord St Oswald. The church, a building of stone in the Transitional style, was rebuilt in 1841. There are Wesleyan chapels at Scunthorpe and Bromby, and a Primitive Methodist chapel at Crosby. Much ironstone is found in this parish, and there are several extensive ironworks.
