Description
Fleet, a village and a parish in Lincolnshire. The villatge has a station on the Lynn branch of the G.N.R., and is 2 miles ESE of Holbeach. It has a post and money order office under Holbeach; telegraph office, Holbeach. The parish comprises 6836 acres; population of the civil parish, 1200; of the ecclesiastical, 966, inclusive of 161 inmates of Holbeach union workhouse, which is in the parish. Many copper coins of Gallienus and other relics have been found. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln; net yearly value, £840 with residence. The church is ancient but goody and an embattled tower with lofty spire stands apart from it. There is a General Baptist chapel.
