Description
Caythorpe, a village and a parish in Lincolnshire. The village has a station on the Honington and Lincoln branch of the G.N.R., 9 miles N by E of Grantham, and has a post, money order, and telegraph office, S.O. (Lincolnshire). The parish includes also Frieston hamlet. Acreage, 4272; population, 897. Caythorpe Hall is a handsome, modern country residence. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln ; gross value, £895 with residence. The church is a cruciform building of Ancaster stone, principally in the Early Decorated style, suffered extensive injury with destruction of a beautiful spire by a storm in 1859, and has been subsequently restored. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
