Whetstone, a parish, with a village, on the Soar, in Leicestershire, with a station on the M.S. & L.R., 1 mile SW from Blaby station on the Leicester and Nuneaton branch of the L. & N.W.R., 2 1/2 miles NW from Countesthorpe station on the Rugby and Leicester branch of the M.R., and 5 1/2 SSW of Leicester. It has a post office under Leicester; money order office, Blaby; telegraph office, Narborough. Acreage, 2113; population, 1117. There is a parish council of seven members and a chairman. The manor belongs to the Countess of Stamford and Warrington. Frame-work knitting is carried on. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Peterborough; gross value, £150 with residence. The church is an ancient edifice of stone in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, S transept, S aisle, and a western tower with spire. A portion of the spire fell during the gale of 1895. There are Baptist and Congregational chapels.
