Thorpe Arnold, a small village, a township, and a parish in Leicestershire, 1 1/2 mile NE of Melton Mowbray, which is the Dearest railway station. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Melton Mowbray. Acreage, 1788; population of the civil parish, 133; of the ecclesiastical with Brentingby, 205. The manor belongs to the Duke of Rutland. The living is a vicarage, united with Brentingby, in the diocese of Peterborough; net value, £232 with residence. Patron, the Duke of Rutland. The church is an ancient building of stone in the Pointed style, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, S porch, and a western tower. It has some good stained windows, and a Saxon font.
