Shangton or Shankton, a parish in Leicestershire, 2 1/2 miles ENE of Kibworth station on the main line of the M.R. Post town, Leicester. Acreage, 1268; population, 77. The manor belongs to the Isham baronet family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; net value, £227 with residence. The church is a small but ancient building of stone in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, S Porch, and western bell-turret. It contains an ancient font and has some good stained glass. There are monuments to Sir Matthew Saunders, Knight, and his wife.
