Description
Peckleton, a pleasant village and a parish in Leicestershire. The village stands 2 1/2 miles SW of Desford station on the Leicester and Burton branch of the M.R., and 4 1/2 SE of Market Bosworth. The parish contains also the hamlet of Tooley Park, and its post town is Hinckley; money order and telegraph office, Desford. Acreage, 2180; population, 242. The manor belongs to the Earl of Lovelace. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; gross value, £364 with residence. The church is an edifice of stone in the Early English and Decorated styles, consisting of chancel, nave, S aisle, N and S porches, and an embattled western tower and spire. It contains some ancient monuments.
