Fleckney, Leicestershire

Fleckney, a parish in Leicestershire, on the Union Canal, 2 miles S from Glen station on the M.R., and 7 NW of Market Harborough. It has a post and money order office under Leicester; telegraph office, Kibworth Harcourt. Acreage, 1271; population, 1254. The chief industry is framework knitting, for which there are two steam factories. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Peterborough; net yearly value, £120 with residence. Patron, the Earl of Lovelace. The church is a small but ancient building of stone in the Middle Pointed style. There is a Baptist chapel.
