Description
Skelwith, a township, conjoint with Monk Coniston, in Hawkshead parish, Lancashire, on the river Brathay, 3 1/2 miles N by W of Hawkshead. Skelwith Force, on the Brathay, a little above Skelwith Bridge, is a cascade of 20 feet in fall, and vantage-grounds in the vicinity command superb views up Langdale. See HAWKSHEAD.
