Netherton, a township in Sefton parish, Lancashire, on the river Alt and on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, 6 miles N by E of Liverpool, and 2 from Aintree station on the Cheshire Lines Committee railway and the L. & Y.R. It has a post office under Liverpool; money order and telegraph office, Aintree. Acreage, 1126; population, 551. The manor belongs to the Earl of Sefton, who is the chief landowner. There is a Roman Catholic chapel.
