Coppull, Lancashire

Description
Coppull, a village, a township, and a parish in Lancashire. The township lies on the Wigan and Preston branch of the L. & N.W.R., 6 miles N by W of Wigan, and has a station on the railway, and a post office under Chorley; money order office, Moor Road; telegraph office, Birkacre. Acreage, 2289; population, 2024. There are four collieries, calico print works, and a brick and tile manufactory. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Manchester; net value, £287 with residence. Patron, the Rector of Standish. The church was rebuilt in 1861. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
