Description
Playden, a parish in Sussex, on the river Rother, at the junction of the Military Canal, three-quarters of a mile N of Rye station on the S.E.R. It has a post office under Rye; money order and telegraph office, Rye. Acreage, 1296; population of the civil parish, 282; of the ecclesiastical, 441. The living is a rectory, annexed to the rectory of East Guildford, in the diocese of Chichester; gross value, £340 with residence. The church is Early English with some Norman fragments.
