Throcking, a village and a parish in Herts, 1 1/2 mile WNW of Buntingford station on the G.E.R., and 7 1/2 miles S from Royston. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Buntingford. Acreage, 1048; population of the civil parish, 58; of the ecclesiastical, 70. The living is a rectory in the diocese of St Albans; net value, £174: with residence. The church, which stands on a considerable eminence, is a small building of stone and brick in the Early English and Decorated styles, consisting of chancel, nave, S porch, and a western tower. It contains some good monuments.
