Withington, Herefordshire

Withington, a village and a parish in Herefordshire, 4 1/2 miles NE by E of Hereford, with a station on the G.W.R., and a post, money order, and telegraph office under Hereford. The parish includes the hamlet of Nunnington, and comprises 2201 acres; population, 744. There is a parish council consisting of nine members. Withington Court, an ancient mansion, is now a farmhouse. Thinghill is the chief residence. There are encaustic tile works. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford; net value, £264 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Hereford. The church is Norman and Early English, and was restored in 1858. It has a tower with a graceful stone spire, and retains the ancient rood screen. Tuere is a Baptist chapel.
