Stoke Prior, a village and a parish in Herefordshire. The village lies on the river Lugg, 1 mile NE of Ford Bridge station on the Shrewsbury and Hereford Joint (L. & N.W. and G.W.) railway, and 2 1/4 miles SSE of Leominster. It has a post and money order office under Leominster; telegraph office, Leominster. The parish includes the hamlet of Wickton, and comprises 2333 acres; population of the civil parish, 411; of the ecclesiastical, with Docklow, 664. There is a parish council consisting of five members. Roman coins and other Roman relics have been found. The living is a rectory, united with Docklow, in the diocese of Hereford; net value, £200 with residence. Patron, the Vicar of Leominster. The church has a Norman nave and an Early English chancel, and was partly rebuilt in 1863. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
