Description
Pencombe, a village and a parish in Herefordshire. The village stands 4 miles WSW of Bromyard, and 6 E of Dinmore station on the Shrewsbury and Hereford (L. & N.W. and G.W. Joint) railway, and has a post office under Worcester ; money order and telegraph office, Bredenbury. The parish contains also the hamlet of Marston Stannett, and comprises 4080 acres; population of the civil parish, 268; of the ecclesiastical, 290. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford; net value, £400 with residence. The church was rebuilt in 1865, is in the Transition Norman style, and consists of nave, apsidal chancel with vestry, S porch, and SE tower. There is also a chapel at Marston Stannett, which is a sinecure and a perpetual curacy.
