Elton, Herefordshire

Description
Elton, a village and a parish in Herefordshire, near the boundary with Salop, 5 miles SW of Ludlow. Post town, Ludlow. Acreage, 1486; population, 102. Elton Hall, a seat of the Salwey family, is the chief residence. The living is a vicarage, annexed to the adjoining rectory of Aston, in the diocese of Hereford; net value, £107. The church has a fine screen, a coat of arms of Queen Elizabeth, oaken, and finely carved in bold relief, and a noticeable font. It was originally Norman and was restored in 1879.
