Colwall, Herefordshire

Description
Colwall, a parish in Herefordshire, under the Malvern Hills, 4 miles NE by N of Ledbury. It has a station on the G.W.R., and a post and money order office under Malvern; telegraph office at railway station. There is another post office at Colwall-Green. Acreage, 3835; population, 1506. The Herefordshire beacon on the Malvern Hills is in the neighbourhood. A gold circlet, set with stones, was found in 1850 at Wind's Point. Hope End was the birthplace of Mrs Browning. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford; gross value, £411 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Hereford. The church is ancient, and contains some brasses and monuments. There are Wesleyan chapels.
