Description

Bramshaw, a parish in Hants and Wilts, 7 miles from Totton station on the L. & S.W.R., and 6 1/2 NNW of Lyndhurst. It includes the hamlets of Fritham, Brook, and Furzley, and has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Lyndhurst. . Hants portion of the parish is in the New Forest. Acreage, 3502 in Hants, and 1579 in Wilts; population, in Hants, 450; in Wilts, 273; of ecclesiastical parish, 723. Warens is a chief residence. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Salisbury; net value, £142 with residence. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Salisbury. The church is a neat modernised structure, built soon after the Conquest, and has a square, brick, ivy-clad tower. The ancient oak roof is a unique specimen. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
