Description
Coln St Aldwyn's, a village and a parish in Gloucestershire, on the river Colne and the Fosse Way, 3 miles N by W of Fairford station on the G.W.R., and 8^ ENE of Cirencester, with a post, money order, and telegraph office under Fairford (S.O.) Acreage, 2666; population, 406. William-strip Park belongs to the Eight Hon. Sir Michael E. Hicks Beach, Bart., M.P., who is lord of the manor, was erected at the beginning of the 17th century, and is a fine mansion situated in a deer park. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol; gross value, £270 with residence. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Gloucester. The church is variously Norman, Early English, and Perpendicular, and was repaired in 1853.
