Description
Clapton-on-the-HilI, a parish in Gloucestershire, on the Cotswolds, 4 miles NE of Northleach, and 2 S of Bourton-on-the-Water station on the G.W.R. Post town, Bourton-on-the-Water (R.S.O.) Acreage, 819 ; population, 115. The living is a chapelry, annexed with that of Lower Slaughter to the rectory of Bourton-on-the-Water, in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol. Population of the ecclesiastical district, 1492. Patron, Wadham College, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St James, consisting of nave, chancel, and bell cot, is an old building in decent repair.
