Description
Fyfield, a village and a parish in Essex, on the river Roding, 3 miles NE from Chipping Ongar station on the S.E.R., and 9 NE from Epping, with a post and telegraph office under Ongar. Acreage, 2450 ; population, 587. The living is a rectory in the diocese of St Albans; net yearly value, £470 with residence. Patron, the Countess Cowley. The church is an ancient building, but has been restored. There is an endowed school with about £50 a year, and a truant school belonging to the West Ham School Board.
