Redworth, a village and a township in Heighington parish, Durham, 7 miles NNW of Darlington, and 2 from Heighington station on the N.E.R., with a post office under Heighington (R.SO.); money order and telegraph office, New Shildon. Acreage, 1886; population, 522. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. Redworth Hall is the property of the Surtees family. A Danish mount of observation, with a triple terrace, is at Shackerton. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
