Edmondsham, Dorset

Description
Edmondsham, a parish in Dorsetshire, 1 1/4 mile S of Cranborne, and 2 miles from Verwood station on the L. & S.W.R. It includes West Worth, and its post town is Cranborne, under Salisbury. Acreage, 1803; population, 231. Edmondsham House, the seat of the Monro family, is a chief residence. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Salisbury; net value, £204. The church is small, and there is a Methodist chapel.

Parish Church
The church of St. Nicholas is an ancient building of stone in the Early English and Perpendicular styles, and was restored and reseated in 1862; it consists of chancel, nave, north aisle, south porch and an embattled tower at the west end of the north aisle, containing 3 bells: beneath the east end of the north aisle is the family vault of the Husseys, the ancient owners of the parish: there are 150 sittings.

The register dates from the year 1573.
