Description

Bincombe, a parish in Dorsetshire, under the Downs, 1 1/2 mile from Upwey station on the G.W.R. Post town, Dorchester; money order and telegraph office, Upwey. Acreage, 982; population, 202. Good stone is quarried, and there is a mineral spring. Numerous barrows are on the Downs. The living is a rectory, united with the rectory of Broadway, in the diocese of Salisbury; gross value of the living of Bincombe, £176. The rectory house is at Broadway. Patron, Caius College, Cambridge. The church is old but good, and has a tower.
