Uplowman, a parish, with Whitnage tithing, in Devonshire, 3 1/2 miles NW of Tiverton Junction station on the G.W.R. Post town, Tiverton. Acreage, 3210; population of the civil parish, 414; of the ecclesiastical, 389. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter; net value, £300 with residence. The church is an edifice of stone in the Perpendicular style, with an embattled western tower, and has been restored.
